Digital signature of the residence contract: procedures and case studies for entry

Professionals operating in the field are well aware of this: procedures for issuing residence permits are very often subject to office delays that cause applications to be processed even months late. The steps that make up the entry procedures in Italy are many and require the involvement of several players; on the other hand, the dedicated resources at the competent offices are not always able to meet these demands efficiently. Attempting to curb this problem are regulatory interventions, such as the Decree-Law No. 145 of 11 October 2024, amended and converted into Law No. 187 of 9 December 2024, which provide for the possibility of completing certain steps in the immigration process by taking advantage of digital means.

At the same time, there are interventions, such as the recent "DDL Semplificazioni", approved by the Italian Senate last 8th October and currently under discussion, which provide for easing the assessment of the accommodation assigned to the foreigner once in Italy and shortening the time limits for issuing certain types of residence permits (the time limit for issuing the EU Blue Card could be reduced from 90 days to 30... even if it is still a non-sanctioned time limit).
