The New Space Economy represents a significant driver for any country's economic system.

Space activities, historically the preserve of a few countries and a limited number of operators, are gradually being turned to new players, the so-called "New Space" operators, largely private companies. This marks the shift from the public model to a multistakeholder and multilateral approach.

Policies for the use of Space Data

On the New Space Economy, Assonime (Italian Business Association) has prepared Position Paper No. 3/2026, in which the Association analyzes a new model that would further boost the space economic system.

In Assonime's view, a policy is needed to promote the transition from a model focused on infrastructure and open data platforms to one focused on Space-as-a-Service. To this end, it is necessary to incorporate the enabling architecture into an ecosystem essentially connected to the market, allowing new space companies to reach the market and be competitive through the quality of the services offered.
